Is my Word document uploaded to your servers?

Yes. Word to PDF is a server-side conversion: your file is uploaded to our API server and forwarded to CloudConvert. Job records on our server expire and are auto-deleted within 15 minutes of upload, after which the converted file is no longer downloadable. CloudConvert independently removes its own copy after at most 24 hours per their published retention policy.

Will fonts and layout match Microsoft Word exactly?

In nearly all cases, yes. The converter renders your document with a Word-compatible engine, so common fonts (Calibri, Times New Roman, Arial, Segoe UI), headings, lists, tables, and inline images come through unchanged. Documents that rely on rare or licensed fonts may fall back to a similar substitute — embed your fonts in Word first if exact rendering matters.

Are .doc files (the old binary format) supported?

Yes. Both modern .docx (Office 2007+) and legacy .doc (the binary format from Word 97–2003) are supported. The converter detects the format from the file's contents, not just its extension.

What file size is supported?

Files up to 50 MB are supported. Most Word documents are well under 5 MB, so this comfortably covers reports, contracts, manuals, and presentations with embedded images.

Will hyperlinks and bookmarks survive the conversion?

Yes. Hyperlinks remain clickable and internal cross-references (bookmarks, table-of-contents links, footnote anchors) are preserved as PDF link annotations, so the resulting PDF behaves like a Word-exported PDF.
